Euronext Brussels core trading hours: 09:00-17:30

The trading day runs Monday through Friday, 09:00 to 17:30. That is the continuous window. No lunch break.

The exchange follows Brussels local time. Winter is Central European Time (CET, UTC+1). Summer is Central European Summer Time (CEST, UTC+2). There is no separate "exchange time zone". The opening bell tracks the city's clocks.

CET vs CEST: how DST shifts the UTC offset

Belgium observes daylight saving time. The clock hours stay fixed (09:00-17:30), but the UTC equivalent moves twice a year.

Winter (CET, UTC+1): from the last Sunday in October to the last Sunday in March. 09:00 CET = 08:00 UTC.

Summer (CEST, UTC+2): from the last Sunday in March to the last Sunday in October. 09:00 CEST = 07:00 UTC.

2026 clock changes:

  • Spring forward: Sunday 29 March 2026 at 02:00 local. Clocks jump to 03:00. Trading starts at 09:00 CEST.
  • Fall back: Sunday 25 October 2026 at 03:00 local. Clocks fall to 02:00. Trading starts at 09:00 CET.

For the full DST calendar and history, see the Brussels time zone guide.

Euronext Brussels inside the Euronext group

Euronext Brussels is one exchange in a pan-European group that includes Paris, Amsterdam, Lisbon, and Dublin. All run on their own local time.

  • Paris: same time as Brussels (CET/CEST). No offset.
  • Amsterdam: same time as Brussels (CET/CEST). No offset.
  • Lisbon: Western European Time (WET, UTC+0 in winter; WEST, UTC+1 in summer). Lisbon is always 1 hour behind Brussels.
  • Dublin: same as Lisbon, 1 hour behind Brussels year-round.

Place a cross-border order to Lisbon at 09:00 Brussels time and Lisbon's market opens at 08:00 local.

Public holidays that close the exchange

Euronext Brussels closes on all Belgian public holidays. A holiday that falls on a weekend closes the exchange that day. No bridge day is observed unless the holiday itself lands on a weekday.

21 July (Tuesday) National Day

How Brussels hours line up with other European markets

Brussels shares its 09:00-17:30 window with Paris and Amsterdam. London opens at 08:00 GMT (09:00 CET in winter, 08:00 BST in summer), a 1-hour offset year-round. Frankfurt opens at 09:00 CET/CEST, same as Brussels.

Cross-market trades between Brussels and London: add 1 hour to London times to get Brussels times, in any season.

Traders in New York (6 hours behind Brussels on both 15 January and 15 July) should place Brussels orders before 11:30 New York time. That 17:30 Brussels close doesn't move. Traders in Tokyo face a harder edge. Brussels closes at 17:30, which is 00:30 Tokyo time in winter (8 hours ahead) and 01:30 in summer (7 hours ahead). Same-day orders must be in before late night Tokyo time.
